ive added some nice faux binding to my gretschy gretsch and i spray painted the pickguard matte black. i may at some point paint teh edges of the pickguard white as it blends in a bit too much

I see pictures! Dark and lo-res, but I see the faux binding at it looks like it came out pretty good.

    Filtertonts, too!

    Congrats, Rosemary!

Nice job on the f-holes! I want to that to my cherry 5120 as well. What did you use?

Did you put the Filtertrons in yourself?

    Glad to help :)

To post a link to your pictures, click on the little yellow scenery button above the text-box and past the link to your picture there.
The server will pre/post fix somthing like 'img' and '/img' (between block brackets) before and after the link and insert that into your message. You can also do that manually once you get the hang of it.

In the text-box you won't see the actual pic, only that link-text. Once you've posted the message, the actual pictures will show up.

hey thanks! oh BBQ i wish i had the skill to install my own pickups, but alas i had my good friends jeff and john over at pasadena guitars do the job for me. however im in the process of learning how to do my own installation and guitar repair so maybe i will with my next geetar :). as for the f-hole binding i used craftsmart broad line paint pen. got it at michael's for like a buck!! in hindsight i should have gotten off white to match the binding on the body, but i think it still looks pretty okay.

Hey Rosemary! I understand your trepidation about guitar repair. But, if you get a good book (Dan Erlwine's is really good), watch the Gretsch and TV Jones videos you'll do fine if you take it slowly. I was never inclined technically, but I've learned over the years:

Two week ago my LP jr. started cutting out in sound...completely. So, I loosened the strings, unscrewed the pick up ring and pulled out the pick up. Darned if there wasn't a tear in the wire. Not broken, thankfully. A little electrical tape and I'm back in action!! Didn't price what it would have cost to take it in to the shop, but I all my own set-ups (thanks you Gretsch videos!), even on my acoustic/electric 12-string.

You gotta post some photos once you start gigging out with the Cherry 5120!!!!

    Peace,

    BBQ
