Purchased a brass Compton for my 6120-59. The original bridge was fine other than it had an annoying ping from one string that I could not cure. It sounded like when a nut slot is to big but it also occurred when the string was fretted. Wayne was great to deal with, he had exactly what I wanted in stock and it arrived quickly. I have had a TruArc in the past on another guitar. The TruArc was a nice bridge but I like the look and feel of the Compton a bit more. My strings are 11’s, T-I Flat wounds with of course a wound 3rd. It intonates very well and my ping is gone..
It even sounds good un-amplified. I just can’t get over how easy it plays with that glass smooth Ebony fretboard, soft V neck and flat wounds.
Looks good. The gretsch bar bridge reminds me of when I was a kid and you made little slits on the hot dog before microwaving so they don't explode and j would set the time for too long.
I've got one my 5420 looks like yours does and another on my 5230 totally different looking but both work great. Yours looks real good on the 6120.
Gratz on the Compton These are excellent, you won't regret it one second It idd looks, feels, sounds awesome and the intonation even with my secured 5420 is spot on
I've had several Comptons over the last few years and they all brought something to the table and those things were always good things. I love'em
The one time I bought a Compton I was more than satisfied. I sold the guitar it went on, and I left the bridge on it. Kinda regret that now...
