My two fur kids, Stevie (Ray Vaughan), who turns 7 tomorrow, and Charli (female), who is 8. Retired racing greyhounds, that's our cult LOL.

And our first, Indy. He's been gone 4 years now, taken too soon (cancer)

Our last dog, a glorious mix of a Lab and Retriever. Long gone, more than a decade now. I miss him.

My girl Daisy. I adopted her after my boy of 16 years died of a heart attack. Wasn't going to get another dog but when you've had one most all your life, it only took a few weeks and I found myself looking at adoption sites. She was rescued from a hoarding house along with 8 other dogs. They figure she was about 2-3 yrs. She was in froster car for almost 21/2 yrs before I got her. I use a mobility scooter outside and from the first day she just climbed on and when I picked her up she just snuggled so we went home together. She had some training and walks good on a leash, house broken and used a doggie door. From day one she took over the house. LOL She's even decided that if she can't get out when she needs to, such as middle of the night, she goes in my shower. I have a big walk in shower. Makes for an easy clean up. She loves to walk beside my scooter and really like to ride on it. Walks till she gets tired then just hops on.

Lovely thread here folks. Fond memories are a gift. My wife will soon join me in retirement. A career Childcaregiver, I see her deep need to give care. She fusses over, baby-talks our one betta fish and constantly senses the fish's feelings !?!. She has allergies and sensitivities galore including to cats and dogs but says there are a few breeds she can tolerate. I will be very careful, but will present a puppy as a retirement gift. Anyway, thinking of Great Danes, a Boxer, Golden Retriever, that made me happy in their times. King the Retriever loved to come back country cross country skiing with me, nipping at my heels if I slowed down. Sadie the Great Dane would lean on me to get affection and could have pushed me over. Poli the Boxer loved visitors so much he would roll over and pee on himself as an act of greeting and submission.

We lost these two last year, brother and sister. But they had long lives. Pretty much their lives were parallel. They both went blind a couple years back within a month of each other. It's just hard to think much about it still. RIP

I can see your devotion and love you had by all of the collars
you've kept over the years. I'm sorry to hear your 17 year old has only a small amount of time left. I'm certain she had a great life with you.
Leaving you with great memories forever.

    Stay well and God bless.

Many years ago my sister had a Whippet and a Greyhound.
When my sister and her husband left the dogs would leave the house and jump over the fence into the neighbors house to hang out with the elderly neighbor. Then when sister or brother in law came home they'd jump back over the fence and greet them.

    Cheers!

Beautiful dogs. I'm sorry for your loss. You have them a good home and a full life and that's the best anyone can do for them.

    Stay well.

Here’s our Jake, whom we lost to a sudden illness last June. He was a rescue and had a few issues, but a sweeter dog you’ll never know!
