Just did a quick search on google and it appears that way, more so in their older years from what I read, as you know though it can happen anytime, I lost my dad to a sudden heart attack at the age of 50, he was reasonably healthy and never smoked or drank but that's life at the end of the day.

Your little guy looks like a loving dog.

This is my trusty JRT ...SHINER!! I got him from Russel Rescue after my previous Jack had to be put down after 17 years. He's in charge of keeping my back lot in line which means no cats, squirrels, rats ,mice, possums, or other vermin are allowed to tread on the property. He's better than a cat at dispatching rats and mice. Other important duties in his daily life include playing ball, eating, playing ball, going for walks, playing ball, going to JRT Trials, and playing ball.

No it's all good. I don't feel like you are hijacking the thread, not at all.
My boy is getting on in years and he really is a huge part of my life.
I know he's in excellent health and we still have several years ahead of us, God willing. I'm just dreading the day he passes on.
I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I miss my dogs, Red and Blue, who passed away 2 years ago. Red is my hiking companion, seen here in the Panoche Hills of western San Benito County, Ca. Blue is the guard dog back home, seen snoozing here on my front step.

This is Daisy. I got her when my son-in-law was in the Marine Corp. His first 4 years were stateside, and they got Daisy 6 months before they were stationed in Okinawa. Daisy had to go through so many steps before she could join them that I was ask to keep her for them. When they got back in the states, daisy was 4 1/2, and with my son-in-law honorably discharged, the family was living with his parents while he found a job. By the time they were able to take Daisy, she was 6 years old and had bonded to me over 5 1/2 years, so they decided that she should stay with me. I've had her for 12 years now, and Daisy and I are now living with my daughter's family. She remembers, and loves every one of us . . . but she is starting to really show her age with all the gray showing up in her muzzle.

Daisy is German Shepherd/Golden Lab, so statistics say that she has anywhere from 2-4 years left, and I hate that thought. Yes, it's like constantly dealing with a high energy teenager (she minds when she feels like it, and she's so smart that she tries to stay one step ahead of me and anticipate my next command instead of me giving it), but I love her.

I love these threads. So fun to see everyone’s pooches! Here’s our boy Fozzie. What a muppet. This dog is so friendly and fun-loving. He literally hugs. It’s not enough to be near you, he wants to put his paws around your shoulders and snuggle. Never had a dog that hugs before. :)

I’ve had two huskies both looked like a typical Gray Wolf yellow eyes and all. The first was an interesting mix. She had one parent that was half husky half coyote the other was German Shepard Wolf. She was the the smartest dog I have ever met. The next was all husky and smart but very stubborn. I had to periodically prove I was the dominant male. But I loved them both. Since I had to put the last one down I haven’t gotten another dog. For me they are just to much work. I’ll stick with my cats for now. I don’t have any pictures of either on this phone. I’ll try and find some on my photo back up drive.

Sometimes I feel I have issues relating. That has never been the case when it comes to the loss of someones dog. All I can say is allow the sadness so you can get to the wonderful memories phase. It is so difficult to loose one but calming to know they were lucky to have you as their family for the time they did.
  20. This BeBe. Pronounced baby, more or less. Thar is her fish. At the outer banks two years ago. My son caught a fish and she got hold of it and wouldn’t let it go. It was nasty by the time i was able to get it. We stayed in a rental, but didnt want a dead smelly fish in the house.
