Some music movies that I'll always watch when they come on----
    Yankee Doodle Dandy
    The Glenn Miller Story
    Stars and Stripes Forever

Not rock, but they're great films!!

Only because it was so hilariously bad, I submit Rhinestone.

I’ll throw Urban Cowboy out to ya, the scenes at Gilley’s with the late Charlie Daniels, for example.

I really wanted to like Purple Rain but could never sit through it. Was never a Prince fan even though I respected his chops. Maybe I'm too old.

First time I ever saw Yankee Doodle Dandy was on TV in the 70s. Until then, I had thought of Jimmy Cagney as an actor who played only gangsters. It was a revelation to me to discover that the man could dance!

Yup, he was a hoofer, like Christopher Walken. I do enjoy his gangster stuff ("Top o' the world, Ma!), but he was so much more. Even Edward G. Robinson did movies other than gangsters.

One aspect of "Yankee Doodle Dandy" that I appreciate is the backstage stuff most folks wouldn't notice. During the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" tune, while Cagney's dancing all over the place, I really watched the work of the follow spot operator, having spent many, many hours hugging a Super Trooper. The spot op is every bit of a master of his craft as Cagney is.

Does anyone remember "Zachariah (the First Electric Western)" with the James Gang, The New York Rock and Roll Ensemble, Elvin Jones, Country Joe and the Fish, and others?
