pmac,

Not surprising, and you know for sure, they're not selling because they're making too much money.

Also, you can be sure, whoever bought it, is going to move production overseas, and immediately increase prices.

No worries for me, the only brand of amp I've ever owned is VOX, and what I have will last me for the duration.

Best,

BIB.

Well, if I had some money to spend on amps in these days it will probably be on a Marshall, maybe a Bluesbreaker or a 1974x. Even more now that we aren’t sure quality will still be up to some (not very high, admittedly) old standard.
I’ve been Fender-ed enough in my life and Vox it’s never been the amp for me (I found it fantastic when played from other guys, less fantastic when I owned some although I only ad and AC30 and an AC15 and none of them were hand wired, only the AC15 made in UK so I don’t have lot of experience). I’m in love with Hiwatts but nowadays they cost an arm and a leg so probably Marshall would be the amp for me.

Former JCM800 owner here. Great amp, but I don't regret selling it. Definitely more a Fender/Vox guy these days.

The Swedish buyer, Zounds Industries, has already been in a partnership with Marshall for over a dozen years, licensing the brand name for a line of headphones and speakers. And Marshall already has an overseas plant in Vietnam, so there's not much to do there. Additionally, the Marshall family's not entirely dropping out of the picture either (sound familiar?), so there's that.

I'm guessing that from our viewpoint - that of amp buyers - there won't be much change. But we'll see. That whole "lifestyle brand" thing didn't work out so well for Gibson. Maybe Marshall can have better luck with it.

I am curious as to whether their headphones are any good. Anybody have some?

I don't have the headphones, but I do have one of the Bluetooth home speakers, and it is VERY good.....

Where the action is!
It sounds to me more like a merger than a buyout. It's a Swedish audio firm that Marshall already had a close relationship with and the Marshall family retains a 24% stake in the newly merged operation. I wouldn't expect any drastic changes anytime soon. I would wager that for the foreseeable future Marshall products will continue to run the gamut from Asian entry-level products to high-end hand-wired British amps.

Those who have their BT speakers seem to love them. I'm curious about their headphones as well.

Marshall's been doing the lifestyle thing for a while now, with BT speakers, headphones, beer fridges, and even craft beer. I wonder how much more we'll see now.

This one is not gonna affect me in my situation. As an official old geezer, I have plenty of amps to play through and don't anticipate buying more. My current stage setup runs through a couple of stompboxes into a Line 6 Helix, with excellent results. At home most of the time I play through an Epiphone Valve Jr. and enjoy the tones I'm getting there too.

I tend to play lighter fare than what Marshall is known for so won’t affect me. I still have a couple of vintage Fenders and a Vox Pathfinder and a few replacement tubes. Being 70 years young I am probably good for the rest of my tour on earth!

My main amp is a 2019 DSL20. The green channel is gold!
Never heard/read a bad review of BT speaker or headphones.

Hopefully things will still be the same...

Let's see

Meh….
Me too. Got no real loyalties to any amps - got two hand made 5-watt tubers and a couple of Quilters. I’m almost 74, don’t gig, and I’m likely done buying amps.
But you young guys rock on!

As a former Marshall collector I am watching this merger curiously.
Since "they they don`t built them as they used to do" since about 1970 I don`t expect too many changes to the worse to happen.

Marshall lifestyle products have been cropping up in every magazine’s interior or fashion photo shoot in the last few years. Don’t know who does the marketing but he or she does an outstanding job.
And, Marshall lifestyle products actually look like ones. Not like Gibson’s USB-stick and all that other nonsense.

I hear that. I've got 4 amps already including a Gibson GA40 and a Mesa Mark V25. If I want to play out I've got all I need. I can't justify buying another amp any time soon, although the appeal of designing and building one is still there.
That being said, the DSL40 looks and sounds pretty sweet...

Had a 2001 Marshall SLP 100 watt. Used to play outdoors. It’s gone.

Had to try the new SV20. Wasn’t my thing for the music I play nowadays. It’s gone.

Bought a Marshall Classic Combo Astoria in 2019. 30 watts. KT 66 tubes. Clarity of tone and a ton of headroom. It stays.

I’m older and retired. No need for any more Marshall amplifiers, though I did just pick up The Guv’nor reiisue pedal, which I really like. 0688DF23-7F84-42ED-876D-C92FFC432659.jpeg 03B4C5E3-24B2-4CA0-840A-8CF0C949E26A.jpeg
