A quick & nasty video playing the new Candy Magenta Hotrod covering one of my favourite Stray Cats tracks 'Lust N Love'.

She sounds stellar with some great playing. Nice song selection too.

What are you using for delay now a days?

Thank you - And definitely no Jack plate!

Cheers @Merc ! Lust N Love has always been one of my favourite Cats tracks but I've never been able to find a backing track for it. I played around with the original track and managed to remove the original guitar (mostly). I'm still using the Line 6 POD HD500 for everything - Guitar into the POD. POD Is modelling a bassman with some slapback, drive and compression into my amp (Blackstar HT Club 40 MK II), using the reverb on the amp. The Blackstar has Speaker emulation on the lineout so I go from that straight into my interface. to record.

If I had the choice, I would definitely mic the amp but the DI seems to work well enough for home recording without disturbing the neighbours. I'm not trying to produce a proper album anyway :)

Wow - That's very kind of you. Thanks @stevo - I just enjoy playing. I keep picking this one up every 20 mins or so :)

A great track - but not quite on the same level as Lust N Love for me :p

Loved the playing and you shared the spirit of your playing style in the best way possible. That tone? Wow....I hate amp modeling/effects processors, always found a reason for NOT going there BUT this clip made me seen the light. The Blackstar is a great amp and almost pulled the trigger vs. the Roland BC Artist I got and still love my decision but I have to say that I'm keeping these rack processing units in mind when I start building my home recording studio next year.

You're playing is the tops and changed my stubborn mind on certain equipment....2-for-1. Thanks for sharing!!

    Thanks all :)

That's great to hear! I'm glad you're going to give them a chance. The thing for me is that, with amp modelling the modern amps, the sound you can get is so consistent from venue to venue... It's very, very easy to get a bad sound with digital effects but, if you're willing to spend the time, I think you can get a good sound. Some of the venues I play regularly are full of people who live like it's the 50's (Nothing wrong with that if that's what you're in to), but they have to wear the 50s clothes, have to use the 50s guitars, have to use the 50s amp and nothing else is good enough. There's always people who come up to me after gigs to ask what gear I'm using and they can't believe I'm using a digital board and a modern amp... I'm a big believer that a lot of 'tone' is in your hands. It's the way you play. The gear just magnifies that. I know guys with $1ks worth of gear who sound terrible and I know people with cheap guitars and amps that sound amazing.
