I purchased several guitars within a relatively small timeframe and it sort of split my attention. I wasn't able to truly bond with any of them. So I put everything in the closet except this Guild. And, Lord have mercy, it's got a sweet tone. I don't normally gravitate to larger bodies, but this thing is wonderfully balanced and feels great.

I just got the same guitar, my first new first-quality guitar in 30 years. I rationalized it as similar to the 6120 I've been coveting, but less expensive. I like the gentle strength of those DeArmond pickups.

I enjoyed the video. You play well on both guitar and percussion.

Mine needed a little set up out of the box, but I generally handle that myself. In fact, I'm still tweeking the truss rod every couple of weeks. Can I ask where in Maryland are you? I lived in that area for 25 years.

Same body, different pickups. Kind of a gas.

I'm in the College Park area. Were you near here?

  12. Is that a newer guild? I have not seen any with those pickups without the bigsby.

I'm very familiar with that area. I worked in Greenbelt for a while and owned a home in Rockville walking distance from the Twinbrook metro stop. I also lived in Wheaton and Takoma Park.

Yep. I think it's one of the newer models. I got mine from Sweetwater.

  16. Is t a 175, Manhattan? Can you post a photo?

  17. Can you tell me which model guild that is? Is it a 175 Manhattan without bigsby? Are those the same pickups that come on the starfire 2 dyna? Just trying to score a dyna guild or similar, but with a thinner body than my 350. Thanks!

That is a soul-stirring rendition of the old song. Coupled with the photos it's quite powerful.

I just noticed that @pmarinovich's Guild has a harp tailpiece, so it's not the same model as mine. I have a new X-175 Manhattan Special, with DeArmonds and Bigsby. The X-175 Manhattan has Franz pickups and the harp tailpiece. Pete's Guild has the harp tailpiece and DeArmonds, so I don't know what it is. As you can see in another good video, the color and headstock inlay are different from the Manhattans.

So, what Guild is that, Pete? It looks and sounds great!

  20. The mystery thickens! When i got the red 350, i considered a harp tail pice. I emailed guild and asked if they had one that was a direct swap, no extra holes to be drilled. They said yes, i I ordered it directly. Sadly its not a direct replacement. I would have had to drill some holes, and I believe they would be seen if i put the bigsby back on. Other wise it would be on there.
