    I do wonder what's the intended use.
    Can it be to cut feedback?

    It’s intended to simulate muting the strings with your palm. They were fairly common on ‘60s instruments. A lot of Gretsches had them, Fender Jaguars had them, Rickenbacker basses still do.

    Thank you everyone. I am extremely grateful to have an instrument like this. I have been playing all day so far I can’t get enough of these old guitars.
