Further to an earlier post on the same subject, The JB-OB (JangleBox On-Board) arrived this afternoon.

The box is still sealed, and will remain so until I can get back to my work bench again.

I'll likely do the JangleBox switch over this weekend.

Full narrative with progressive photos to follow.

Photos two and three are from the JangleBox web site.

My new Ric 1993 Plus/12 is in for a real treat, along with the JB-OB, a 12 saddle bridge, and an octave tuning key flip, a'la, Roger McGuinn is on the menu.

Best,

BIB.

Niiice.... I didn't even know something similar existed.
Ah, now I miss my Jetglo 330.....
Darn man, that 1993 is a beauty. Is it original or a reissue? The Rose Morris Ricks are my favorite ever.

Interesting. That seems like not a small undertaking.
afire,

I haven't unpackaged the unit yet, but watching the JangleBox tutorial, it should be quite easy.

It's solderless plug-in connectors. In the above photo you can see six white caps, They flip up on one end, the PU lead and ground are inserted, and the caps are snapped back down to secure/maintain contact with each wire. the board is marked, which PU lead/GRD goes into which slot.

Once the original panel is removed, the ends of the existing PU wires are cleaned/twisted tight, installing the new panel, and screwing it in place, shouldn't take longer than five minutes.

According to JangleBox, even the original pick-guard screw holes are supposed to line-up.

My work bench is well set up and I'll be prepared for any eventuality, but I'm not expecting any issues.

Hoping for this weekend, I'll post the process with photos.

Best,

BIB.

Hey stiv,

The JangleBox-On-Board (JB-OB) is brand new, this is likely one of the first ones out the gate.

The 1993 Plus/12 is new, I've had it a little over a year.

Rickenbacker built this guitar as a special request from Peter Townshend. There was never any mention made that I'm aware of, that this guitar was a Limited Edition, but they don't seem to be available anymore.

It has a 1/8'' wider neck, a special high strength neck/body joint, with all the vintage Rose Morris features.

It ''jangles'' pretty good on its own, but I thought it would be an excellent candidate for the new JB-OB.

When I did my Roger McGuinn Signature 370 build, almost 20 years ago, there was a complete active pick-guard assembly available from a NYC shop (Tonewerks), but the shop is long gone.

I've waited a long time for something like this to be recreated again.

Best,

BIB.
