On a side note, my least favorite weather is hot & muggy so a few days of brutal cold is good by me; it reminds me of my place in the universe. Of course, I am retired, don't need to work outside and I am fortunate enough to have a warm dry house.
Same here, man. I’m not a fan of summer at all. I’m all about the late autumn, that’s when I take time off work and enjoy the outdoors.. I don’t mind winter usually. The coldest weather we usually deal with is 12-20°, but this right here is a different animal. The cold is bad, but with the wind it’s lethal. Luckily, it’ll be over tomorrow.
Maybe that is why I like winter. I can always find stuff to do projects playing etc.
Same here, I love the comfort of being in a warm home with the comfort of my family and my obsessions, but not with this kind of cold. Our house and heating system, err most people’s houses and heating systems around here, are not equipped for extreme subzero temps with violent wind. I have a feeling many folks around here are going to freak out and start upgrading their systems.

Here, in northern New England, we are known for having winters, but NOT for arctic freezing. This is new for us.

How do you midwesterners survive this nonsense?!

I keep my guitars, in cases, stacked on a shelf in my basement against a wall.
But today the walls are so cold that I got scared and decided to set up sawhorses to stack them in the center of the basement where the air is fairer. I was afraid them being that close to the cold bricks would destroy them!
Caleb,

- 40 here in Ottawa.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Tomorrow, we're supposed to be back up on the plus side.

Best,

BIB.

If you upgrade anything it should be insulation. I spray foamed my basement and save almost 100$ a month on the coldest months and 30-50 the rest of the year.

Damn!!
That’s awful!
Does it get that cold often? Or is this weird for you too?
Caleb,

Used to be quite common actually, but not for quite a while.

Last year, annual skating on the Rideau River was very short as there was not enough ice.

A couple days ago, a lot of annual Winterlude festivities were cancelled because it was just too cold.

Imagine, ice sculpturing cancelled because it's too cold, they said it was a combination of too cold for human comfort, and the sculpture ice being too hard.

Best,

BIB.

In the middle of the night it was -17° but felt “like -42°”.
Now it’s 3°, but that’s still horrible.
Our furnace is working overtime, but our house won’t pass 60°.
Man, I don't like rubbing it in, but it getting into the 30s during the day where I live is crazy. It's 45 right now and people are complaining 🤣

We hit 30 today and I’m actually too warm in my normal winter jacket. That’s just what happens when you spend to much time outside in subzero temps.

Scale is a funny thing. Always wondered why we have so many different scales. Not musical.
As a former bicycle mechanic I appreciate metric

Winter is usually when I do my Model Railroading in the basement but it's too cold today. Tomorrow it will be in the 30s and I'll be down there for sure.
