It's not a chess position either. But I've got religion for it for sure .
I did check out the Allen amps and several of them were very appealing. But it's not an Allen either.
You are warmer than you know ...
The Benson Monarch combo would be a dream. And I definitely spent some time Victoria amps. But no, it's not that either.
Today's final clue (assuming it arrives on time tomorrow) ...
"Did I make the team, Coach?"
I hope when you do your NAD post that you'll tell us how all of these relate to the amp. Frankly, I'm mystified.
I will but I'm worried the collective groans will drown out the thrill of the new amp. I know I'm esoteric to a fault sometimes. My wife said to be sure to tell everyone this is how she feels when she asks me what one of my songs means .
A friend of mine has one of those! So cool.
I'm a huge fan of bad puns, so...
...and really, new musical equipment is very exciting, even when it's not mine.
Wow! I just don’t know. Great post though!
The day has finally come. The new amp arrived safe and sound. But before I reveal the amp, I'll reveal the clues.
Clue #1 - Non master volume - that didn't really narrow it down very much.
Clue #2 - Female Bush Pilot - I was huge fan of Northern Exposure (Maggie O'Connell)
Clue #3 - One for sorrow, two for joy - I'm a big fan of Corvids and my favorite is the Magpie. This references a nursery rhyme that harkens back to a superstition regarding the bad omen of a single Magpie. (a nickname for the new amp maybe?)
Clue #4 - The Bishop sits here - this refers to a cathedra of a bishop. The inclusion of which makes a church a Cathedral.
Clue #5 - "Did I make the team, coach?" - Yes, you made the team.
My apologies for being so esoteric and obtuse. But if you stuck around until now, here she is:
So, it's a Magnatone Varsity Reverb with a Cathedral front. And, it's the color I wanted too! I found it used (online) at a shop in Florida and it was a screaming deal considering the price of these on Reverb. As I said, I had to sell the Quilter to fund this and I was very reluctant to do so. But I'm happy to report that the lovely cleans the Quilter gave me are absolutely intact on this thing. It's so unbelievably warm too. As soon as I fired it up, my wife eye's lit up and she exclaimed, "It's so warm!" It's also got this amazing depth. More to report as I learn how to harness it all.
Thanks to all who participated in the guessing game.
Dang, that's nice!
Thought for sure it'd be something from D-Labs.
Can we get a pic of the control layout and the speaker?
Included an extra shot of the threaded insert -- no wood stripping!
Off to a good start!
Absolutely beautiful . Congratulations
Amazingly cool! Yeah, the clues were a little obscure, but...nice amp. Congrats!
EDIT: and a cooler amp than any of my guesses, I think.
Congrats, and well played. Quite the revelation!
