That's mighty decent of you, Robert!
Haha. I prefer many of the features of the penguin - thumbnails, chrome, I don't want a 17" body. The only thing I am not a fan of is the headstock. If it had been a jet (or scripty jet) headstock in the same colors, I probably would have bought it.
I've always been in favor of enabling people to fulfill their dreams.
You just got to have that one Doc! It really is perfect for you and you deserve it!
You absolutely do NOT need that guitar at all but oh my gosh look at that incredible work of art you absolutely MUST buy it what are you WAITING for?!?!
Absolutely agree. I hate that headstock. And it sucks cause otherwise, a Penguin is super cool.
If you want the gold I would happily buy your chrome parts for my penguins, if mine were the same spec I'd even swap it all with you lol.
I like the silver, if they did a vintage white penguin with silver sparkle binding and chrome hardware I'd be sitting in my living room.
I'm sure you would regret NOT buying it more then buying it, and my penguin isn't that neck heavy really.
As I said in another post, all gretsch would need to do is make the headstock a little smaller to balance the body better and I think more people would like it.
I can't help you. I get weak just looking at the pics. Go for it. Like I said no help.
It’s not a size thing for me, it’s a design thing. I just don’t dig the look at all. But to each his/her own. LOTS of people apparently love it!
Get rid of a couple of guitars to get this one. Pitch it as a clean up, or streamlining the collection. Declutter your mind now.
I thought I was the only guy who hated those large garish headstocks
Play it (sitting down because it weighs over 9 lb).
Enjoy it. Love it. Look at it.
Then sell it in 5 months for $300 less than you paid for it. it’s like renting a Penguin that you don’t need for about 50 cents a day. ..... unless you decide to keep it.
get off the fence and hit the buy it now button already!
I'll give you a little help if it helps. I agree gold hardware would look better but you and I would be in the minority in this group. It does look a bit washed out with the gray top. However I've always been critical of the Gretsch website photo representations and it might look better with a decent retailer photo. If the top looked liked the back I'd be all over it if I was you. But 3K for a guitar has things you are already questioning and selling off others to get it? No, especially if one them is that trans blue 6120. OR you could have 300 senior citizen office visits - $10 of Medicare fraud per patient and BAM!! Who would know?
I will concentrate on that one statement. My strategy has been to consolidate less expensive guitars into fewer, but better-quality guitars. It makes life simpler and I find myself less tempted by GAS.
As an expat of the Gopher State, my advice is to go for it.
A matched set, very cool. When’s delivery day? ;-)
you needed it and know it.
This is exactly it! And you can’t go wrong with a Penguin. Go for it!
That there LaVonne’s sounds like a “go.”
I see its “down south” on the map.
