I’ve got two very nice Gretsch guitars: a 5422 and a 6119. I am more than happy with both. In addition I have three other very nice instruments, which gives me multiple options when I sit down to practice or just mess around in the music room.

But! I see pictures and read posts here on 6120s, RHHs, ECs,Setzer, Harrison, Falcons, beautiful blue models, and I think, "Man, I would sure like to have one of those." I don’t need another guitar. The ones I have are more than I can give proper attention and use to as it is. But there are so many beautiful Gretsches I want another one! Just because they are like works of art, if nothing else. I guess this is a GAS symptom? Do I need professional help? Like, maybe from a Sweetwater rep?:p :cool:

Sadly this condition appears untreatable, there is no known cure........

    no cure for GAS,
just have NGD for temporary relief,
    use as directed.

No cure for the gas. I'm bloating up for another Tele/Esquire project, and I don't need one. But........................!

I think its only natural. My advice is to look at your guitar collection and find all the gaps. For example
    Don’t have a blue one
Don’t have a single coil one.
Don’t have a double cut etc etc.
Then see if you can find a gretsch that fills, say 2-3 gaps. And you can reasonably argue that you NEED it.
    Then you buy it.
Then you find more gaps in your collection And so on.

I don't know if my advice is good, but if I had two hollowbodies already, I think I'd go for a solid body. In fact, a 6228 Jet stoptail in Cadillac Green. But that's just what I'd do. But it's something to think about.

Yup, awesome. I stopped "needing" another guitar over 30 guitars ago. Bottom line, who cares? If the bills are getting paid, no family financial needs are being neglected, why not indulge just because? These things bring us joy. That is plenty reason enough.

Oh and on the Professional help thing? Price a Therapist. You'll discover as I did, it's way cheaper to just keep buying guitars!

I can see why you would want a 6120, I mean everyone should have one as it IS the gretsch guitar to have.

I'll be honest I didn't need any of my guitars really and I still want an anniversary, I mean I could get by with my cheap nylon string acoustic, but you have to spend your earnings on something and who doesn't appreciate fine works of art that can also make wonderful sounds :D.

You say you don't need another guitar? Need?

What does need have to do with it?!

If it could help, you’re not alone mate.
I don’t even play guitar that much in these days but... two Gretsch are not enough to cure the GAS.
I keep on scrolling every Gretsch new ad on my local online marketplace every single day. Looking for... I don’t even know what, ‘cause I would buy them all.
    There’s no cure. :)

I knew a guy once, he was a Gretsch fanatic. Had a house full of Gretsches. Every model made according to him.
Couldn't play them, he just loved them!

    Many collectors are like that.
Once a Strat collector told me that he would rather buy a worst-sounding but with original out-of-the-factory strings guitar over a better sounding one that has been played.
    No jokes.

    @Jelly Roll Horton

At your/our age you can and should buy whatever you want. You worked and lived a lifetime just so you can.

Gretsch guitars, I think it’s a pretty darn healthy obsession. Make sure and post lots of good pics when your new Gretsch arrives.
