I love my simple, little tweed Fender Pro Junior. Actually, surprisingly, one of the best sounding amps I've ever had, and I've had dozens of amps, buying and selling. I always get compliments on the sound of that thing. Maybe it's a magical one. 15watts, Jensen 10" speaker. I've had Princetons, and Blues Juniors, this little beast sounds better to my ears. Sounds good with whatever I plug into it, Fender, Gretsch, Gibson. Even my acoustic/ electric sounds good. Gets surpringly loud, $400 used, but pristine, like new at Guitar Center online. Search, you can find deals on them.

Honestly, as much as I love tube amps, if you don’t have a good tech in your pocket I wouldn’t bother
I respectfully disagree.

The only maintenance that I have done in the past 35+ years, is replacing tubes---mostly power tubes in VOX amps, and that has been minimal compared to experimenting with different tubes. I can do that part myself though every 10-12 years, I would need a tech to do a filter capacitor replacement.

That's it, yes - and it would be even better with a SF Fender amplifier, once restored and set up fine !

A+!

Mesa`s little Subway Rocket comes to mind. Lovely little amp.
It is built very well, versatile and (for Boogie standards) simple to operate.
You can get it for a fair price on the second-hand-market.
Our great bluesman @nickurso has a lot of experience with this one.

I would chose either a Fender Reverb or Princeton .... If I could only have one tube amp it would probably be a Reverb...

FWIW, I've never been a Blues Jr. fan.. I realize the Jr's intended tone and price point are both different from a Reverb's but I still find them to be disappointing, even taking that into consideration. I'd get a Tone Master before I'd get a Blues Jr.

Honestly though, I don't play the tube amps I have all that often anymore, mostly due to weight and convience... I think the Twin Reverb preset in my modeling amp sounds good enough most of the time not to bother...

Have you noticed the name Fender keeps popping up? For jazz, blues, 60 rock etc you just can't beat Fender because their clean is SO clean. Tubes are fine but for easy on the wallet and that sound check out the Fender Champion 40. When I got back into playing I bought several amps too, including the famed Boss Katana 50. The one that's still here and used constantly in the Fender 40. Great little amp.

Guy's in thank you a million!👍🤗 Your inputs really help me. The 1.i will do is to replace my tube set with new JJ's. 2. To check the bias. Must only get the exact location of the measurement point. 3. Then it should run. (If not then to the tech) 3. To sell it. 4. Then I go to UK for one they (not far), and test the Supro Amulet 1x10, the Delta King 12, ; Cornell Romany 12, ; Fender Blues Junior Tweet, and 65 Princeton reverb.i would love the look but the are why to bright also vox and so on.... Thank you, found my favourites 🧐🤗

Hi Gretsch friends

With g5622t I use a Blackstar ht20r- MK2, nice sounding amp if it works with no trouble. My unit seems to bold on a Monday 🥴 and is not reliable. So I think about to replace it. I like to play Blues, Blues rock and so on but no high gain stuff. Want a amp between 10 and 20 watt. What's you guys opinion about, what would you recommend??
Regards
Franz
For the Tweed sound a Fender '57 Deluxe reissue. And for the Blackface sound a '65 Princeton reissue. Simple, durable, bulletproof and awesome sounds.

I have read some good/great things about that amp. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Laney's version of The VOX AC30?
View attachment 204883

Oh, no : the Laney VC15 is much smaller and lighter (and less costy !) than the VOX AC30 !

Rather think Fender Blues Junior range, but with a good VOX tone... Against a BJ, no picture : I take the VC15 !

But it's me, OK ? 😁😉

A+!
