Questions I would ask myself: Are you a professional performer, or plan to be one?
Will you feel good about your decision (buy or not) in 3 months or 6 months?
Will anyone else be affected by your decision, plus or minus?
    Is this an impulse?
Are you feeling pressure because of marketing ("Limited Edition"! Signature model''! Rich Robinson! TV Jones! ..."commands respect"?
There’s a lot of bling there; is it worth it, really?

My old dad warned me, "Don’t buy a car for the paint job." And so did Smokey Robinson: "Pretty girls come a dime a dozen... you better shop around..." And he wasn’t related to Rich Robinson, who will be even more rich if you buy this.

Many of us here have faced this same quandary, so I think it’s safe to say we’re sympathetic.

My vote: Let it go for now, man. What’s yours will come to you, and at that time the money -your money- will be there.

Just get a black falcon players addition add put a sticker on it. You would still have money left for Setzer signature and a new amp.

Obviously I think THISISDINOSAUR knows exactly what he's looking at and what he can afford, or he wouldn't be considering it in the first place, so in that instance, GO for it, it's freaking Beautiful !!

If you don’t like it after buying it then you will be stuck with an incredibly difficult to sell white elephant. Overpriced, over-specialised.

if you like magpies buy a stuffed one and hang it from a black 5420

I wouldn't do it, but then again, it's not my job to tell others how to spend money they have or don't have.

    Caveat emptor.

Hey if he can afford it and is ok with it go for it. If not pass for now like aI said before if there is any uncertainty make a similar monthly payment to a savings account for at least six months. If it’s comfortable living missing that money use the six month savings put it down on the guitar and finance the last half. I did buy my Broadway Jade Penguin on 12 interest free payments. Interest free being the key word. So I’m not against it if you know you can do not comfortable but be aware of resources before you do. I pondered my purchase for several months and made my payments each month to another credit card as extra until it was paid off so I new I was able to miss that money and eliminated a bill even better! Post pics once you get it!

It says it's a solid top in the guitar's spec, but I doubt very much that it actually is solid. I could be wrong of course, but it would be very anomalous for Gretsch..

I'm not a big fan of signature models to begin with. I had an old friend that got one of those Stevie Ray Vaughan strats a few years ago - you know, the one with the big "SRV" on the pickguard - I always thought it looked totally dorky. Played the same as any other strat as far as I could tell, just came with super heavy strings on it.

The only time I've ever been tempted to go that route was a few years ago when Gibson came out with a pelham blue Jeff Tweedy SG. And I don't even listen to Wilco, but it was just a really, really nice looking guitar! I liked it with or without some guy's name on the headstock.

There's no way I'd spring 8K for a signature Falcon - especially if you can't pay cash. Just get a regular one, play the hell out of it, become a rock star, and they'll make one with your name on it!

    Haha, that wasn't me, unfortunately.

Thanks for your advice everyone, but don't worry about me. When I say I can afford it, I mean I can properly afford it.

Re financing, I'd only be doing it at 0%, otherwise I agree that it doesn't make sense

I mostly just wanted an excuse to talk about the guitar!

I'm not in the camp that will talk you out of it for financial reasons. But the Rich Robinson stuff I'm not so sure about. But that's largely because I have a long, storied history of selling guitars pretty quickly after I bought them So I'm always thinking about resale, and I suspect that having a particular artist's graphics on the body (not so much the pickguard) would limit its appeal. But hey, if you're a big fan and keep your gear instead of flipping it, then it may be the perfect guitar for you.

Out of curiosity have you considers a CS guitar? You could get what you specifically want and at these prices you’re in the ball park depending on how exotic you get.

In that case I vote have at it!

And that sparkly paint is really gorgeous. The logo on the body isn’t my thing (love the Black Crowes though), but put that paint on hot rod and I’d snap it up immediately.
