Some time ago I went into Guitar Center not even planning to buy a guitar, especially a green guitar.

When I played this G2627T, I instantaneously bonded with it. It felt so perfect to me and unlike most people (probably), I LOVE the Broad'Tron BT-2S pickups.

2 days ago I received a G6118T-LIV and I knew within 30 seconds that I didn't like the guitar. It played nice, but the pickups killed it for me. Not a fan.

Now today, I have a G5622T Electromatic in single barrel burst that is out for delivery (bought from GC for ease of return, if needed). I started questioning if the Electromatic is really worth the extra money, considering how much I love my Streamliner.

I'm anxious to hear the difference in the BT-2s vs the Black Top Broad'Tron.

I must be crazy, but I actually prefer the Streamliner series to any other Gretsch I've tried so far - and I've had many. Maybe it's because of the BT-2S.

Anyhow, here are some photos of my G26267T that I absolutely love.

Mods so far: Grover Locking Tuners, Roller Bridge, Reverend Spring, Chrome Knobs

Stuff I've got coming: ABM 2400 Bridge (the cheap roller one on there now rattles like a SOB), Graph-Tech Tusq XL nut (the factory nut that is installed is cut way too deep)

I was so disappointed when Grestch killed the 3 pickup 5622, and went to a 2 pickup configuration. This 3 pickup Streamliner is pretty cool, and I wish that they would bring back the 3 pickup Electromatic, even if it isn't the 3 Super HiLotrons.

Interesting. This is the first 3-pickup Gretsch I've played.
As a non-Strat-sound person, I find myself using each of the pickups by themselves and never as a pair.
I saw in a video recently that Jack White modified his 3-pickup Telecaster to use just 3 way switching (neck, middle, bridge only).
If I were starting from scratch, I think i'd build it that way also.

The middle pickup is really a great thing.
Not as much bite as the bridge and not as dark as the neck.

These guitars LOOK really sweet too.
Nah - you’re not crazy. Gretsch makes great guitars at all prices and in all of their lines. You just found the one that works really well for you, and luckily Gretsch offers a great product at a great price.

I have settled on the BT65s being the best offered Gretsch pickup for me, and that’s not necessarily a trad Gretsch pickup either. We like what we like!

I totally agree with your assessment of the Streamliner series. CRazy good deal and well put together. I have owned Pro Series and Electromatics but the latest Streamliners more than do the trick for me.

There's still one on sale on LBC (our local French Craiglist equivalent) - in LH - a bit highly priced IMHO :

But OK, I already have one in the rare Surf Green color (Clear Turquoise, in reality) :

Finally not very different from your Streamliner G2627T by the way, @Wildwood609 :) :

Your not crazy, the lower priced series of brands these days are really good, I own a squier affinity tele and I am yet to find a MIM/MIA one to take it's place, of all the ones I've played I still prefer my squier, I also love my electro jet just as much as my penguins.

Congrats on that great looking guitar. I'd like to get one just for the three pickup arrangement. Enjoy yours!

Thank you! I do love the 3-pickup variation. I like it so much that I'm going to pick up another in the Shoreline Gold color, just to have as a backup.

That middle pickup is pretty cool. There's something special about it when you use it in isolation mode.

It seems to be a little on the heavier side, I guess? Compared to a hollowbody guitar.
I haven't actually weighed it, but it's not a burden to carry around or anything.

My G2627T on the scale, in 'murican and metric units (scale was wandering a bit, minimally).

That's pretty light for a centerblock. My 5622v1 is just over 9.5lbs.
