The form-fitting but separate plastic pickguard and metal control knob plate, basically like on a Tele, is shaped similarly to the Music Man StingRay and G&L SkyHawk guitars, you know? Very cool George and Leo inspired vibe to that shape too. I like that reverse routed body, you can see more of the wood grain.

Hmmm... Looking at the specs the only thing I'm seeing that's "new" or "innovative" is that it's chambered (& maybe they blocked &/or left the springs & arm off of the tailpiece?). It actually seems like a pretty traditional spec overall to me. Doesn't mean it's not cool to me though, I love Mustangs :) They're one of the most comfy & cool looking body shapes to me & are usually pretty light weight.

To me the Music Man & G&L plate & guard shapes always seemed like they were carried over from the Mustang ;)

I don’t disagree. I do feel that there really is not much “innovative” in the guitar world anymore. Small improvements, perhaps, wrapped in new colors and shapes each year.
