Welcome to gretsch talk I use my real name too. I think you did it right buy a great guitar then lean how to play. I used someone else's guitar for my first month then I got a cheap guitar fr sears.

I think starting out with a good guitar in great. The first guitar I learned a few chords on had to be tuned with a pair of pliers. We like blue at my house too although I have a grandson who now attends U of L so I guess we are a house divided. Enjoy the forum. This is one of the best.
