Recently I was shopping the local music stores for some type of semi hollow or 335 type clone... I just happened to pick up a G2420 on a whim, which for some reason I had never previously really even considered a full sized hollow body electric, and it kinda blew me away... It had a sound that was currently absent in all of my other guitars and I was hooked and bought it. Since then I've been enjoying playing it both plugged in and unplugged and am already starting to think that there is probably a Gretsch semi-hollow somewhere in my future as well.

Hello Stingray and welcome to G-T. It's good to have you here.

The title of your post is appropriate when you say "first Gretsch" because they seem to multiply. I bought my first in September 2019 and currently awaiting a November delivery of my tenth one.

I'm sure you will enjoy your 2420. Would like to see pics, when you have a chance.

Thanks to everybody for the warm welcome...

A new custom fit hard shell case arrived for my Gretsch on Saturday. The fact that I bought a good case for it really illustrates my overall quality impression of the guitar. Its the most affordable / least expensive guitar that I own that I thought was worth buying a really good case for. It's joined the ranks of the elite in my modest little collection of guitars...!!! lol

Oh yeah! Love it, and as our beloved moderater Thunder says, and I agree, all guitars should come with a case and jack plate. Lovely case. Just don't leave it laying around as that Gretsch logo attracts all kinds of unscrupulous characters.

@Stingray70 -- welcome! Yeah, I hear you... I am finding that Gretsch guitars can definitely be habit-forming.

Are you a Stingray bass player?

I play a bass once in a while but not enough to call myself a real bass player... It's car reference...
