Hi everyone, my name is Paul and I live in Wakefield England. I am likely to trade in my Gretsch G5220. I want a guitar with a scale length of 25.50 and Gretsch don’t seem to do this length. Reason? I want to occasionally play slide and the longer scale length gives the extra tension without messing about with higher action/heavier gauge strings. Anyhow I have a question which I will ask in a different section.

Welcome Paul. I'm new too. I believe Gretsch does make some longer scale models, (longer than Gretsch's standard 24.6). I'd look at the specs on the Gretsch website, or the specs on the mail-order guitar sites such as Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, etc.. Between the Made in Japan, as well as the Electromatic and Streamliner models, I recall seeing specs with I believe a 25.5 scale length.

Welcome to Gretsch-Talk, Paul!

If you're looking at the solid body guitars, then you'll be looking at the shorter scale length, because Gretsch solid bodies compete with the Les Paul. If you're willing to branch out from there, for instance, the White Falcon hollowbody is a 25.5" scale length. The Tennessee Rose is currently 24.6" scale length, but I have a 2011 Tennessee Rose that is 25.5" scale length. Whether you can find a 25.5" scale length Gretsch depends on what style of guitar you want, or whether you are willing to take the time to find a used Gretsch with the scale length that you want.
