Hello all! I hope this finds you all well....
Apologies for being way out of the loop for months but I’ve been busy with all the COVID stuff at work. Thankfully, we’re all finished and have handed everything back to the civilians.... I’m just a bit knackered.
I decided to treat myself for getting through it all in one piece, so I went and ordered myself a lovely Candy Apple Red 5420T! I’ve still got my Jet and my Streamliner but I have never had a true hollow body... so it is being added to the gang! I’ve also never had anything with a Bigsby, (I even take the tremolo arms off Strats) so this should be a laugh!
I went Into the shop and played a different colour today, loved it and ordered the red, so I get it next week! I’m so excited!
Does anyone have any cool songs that sound especially good on a hollow body?
    Take care all!

    Congrats!
The 5420 was my first experience with a big-body hollow electric guitar and it's been a lot of fun. Has me contemplating going with an even bigger body model, lol.

Mine's the vintage orange '59 model from Sweetwater. But sure wouldn't mind owning that Candy Apple Red... or Fairlane Blue... or Cherry/Gold two-tone model haha:)

I tried the Fairlane Blue Demo they had... but I have a Jet in that... it’s beautiful but I fancied a change. I was wondering if it would be too big for me, having tiny hands and being generally wee, but it was absolutely perfect. They build quality is amazing. When I joined this forum, electromatics were entry level and still pretty good. Now they are simply amazing! So looking forward to it!

Yes, that's a great looking guitar!

I have no hollowbody song advice, but enjoy every chord, and every twang on that bigsby!

What'd I Say by Ray Charles is kinda fun to play on a hollowbody.

I think those both actually have the same scale length neck. Congrats on the new guitar!

Anything Chet or Travis played works well on a 5420t

Welcome back and congratulations on your new purchase!

Now you've raised my gas again, being in quite the same situation as you were: 2 semi-hollow Gretsch guitars and not the real big thing yet. Yes a G5420T is in my future...

First song I'd try is Charlie Feathers' I Can't Hardly Stand It.

And I'd absolutely want to try strumming hippie songs to see if there's a way / setting to make it better than with an accoustic. Things like Wild Horses or even The Times They Are A-Changin'...
