The 7-11 on my daily route before work started playing that garbage the day after Halloween. I feel so bad for the people working there.

I pretty much get PTSD from Christmas music these days. I spent a lot of years working retail when I was putting myself through school and could never get away from it, and every year it started just a little bit sooner.
I like Carol of the Bells and that's it. I hate all other carols with a burning passion. I hate rocked-up versions of carols even more. I hate "original" rock Christmas songs most of all. I will never forgive McCartney in particular for subjecting the world to "Wonderful Christmastime."

Thankfully we were able to turn off the music in our clinic this year, or it would have been 12 hours of torture - same handful of songs over and over. (We're open 7-7.) Even if they played different versions of the same songs it would be more tolerable. But the same artist, same song, every time. Made me sympathize with Scrooge last year. Bah humbug.

Yes! I just played "Deck the Halls" on that. It was actually tolerable...

I felt guilty when John Denver died as I spent one Christmas cursing him for the damn Muppets Christmas album that we played repeatedly in the record store I worked in. I probably didn't say, "I hope you run out of gas and crash your plane," but I certainly threatened violence.

I played "Carol of the Bells"... it actually didn't make me want to scream into the void.

"Carol" is the one Christmas tune I can tolerate.

Oh well - different strokes - I actually like Christmas music - but it's meant to be played at Christmas time not before Thanksgiving. There are some lovely melodies.
The sentiment has been lost because of the over commercialization of the holiday. I always looked at Christmas as a time of peace and good will - a time when families got together and showed their love to one another. It's not about black Friday, or the gifts you might receive. The most important thing is to spend time with your family and friends.
One doesn't have to be Christian to feel the joy and love during the holiday season.
But hey there are some Christmas songs I hate too.
Mainly Last Christmas by Wham - what a suck song that is...:D

I love holiday music from the 40s-60s. Anything after that, not so much!

On the subject of Christmas music, I have to say that this video of Tavo's is one of my all-time favorites. I always liked this minor-key carol, and I love Tavo's western rendition especially with the old film footage.
