I’ve noticed a few threads recently about out of stock guitars. This is one month old but I just watched it, sort of interesting.

I got an email from Elderly today focussing on Martins. Their stock seems strong.

Locally inventory is down. I actually tried to buy a D-18 a few weeks back from Sweetwater, they had none. The Eastman I bought, Not from Sweetwater, it was the last one of that model.

There’s been posts here about people buying from Musicians Friend but getting used stock or the wrong one from GC. Of course that could simply be GC messing things up.

There are many guitars for sale everywhere. Reverb and eBay are filled with options. Somebody pointed that there have been millions of guitars made over the last 50 years and most are unaccounted for. Not necessarily new models. Gretsch and Fender and other major companies could stop manufacturing guitars and there'd still be plenty of good guitars to buy.

New instruments might be scarce due to the factories being shutdown because of the 'Rona. But, fret not (pun intended), there are plenty of guitars out there. Buy used. It's likely that you already have a guitar to play.

As my Dad said, "Is that money burning a hole in your pocket?"

I purchased a new (old) Gibson today. They are less than 12K.

Is it on it’s way? I hadn’t noticed a NGD thread.

What really kinda sucks is the small brick and mortar that don’t do internet sales. They may have 20-30 guitars/basses but nobody has been walking through the door for months. If they do come in it’s for strings.

Hopefully they survive this crisis. That goes for the small builders as well.

I called MF twice in the past three weeks to check on guitars and both were OOS even though they were highlighted and "on sale" on the website. At least one of those is still on sale today even though they ran out weeks ago.
They give the lame excuse that with the store closings their inventory count is hosed, but I think that's BS.

I called yesterday to order a gig bag and the rep told me that they just had the biggest $$$ month in the history of the company.
But they backed off of my Veteran's discount. Now it's only on $200+ items. Their customer service is slipping while their profits increase.

This could really mean China has been hit with Civid more than we are aware. Could also mean everything we’d heard about production and that amount of warehousing/stockpiling is not true ? Maybe they only kick out 5-6 a day not 500...

Do people actually believe their figures on the 'Rona?
Do they have our best interests at heart?
Ask the folks in Hong Kong.
