Hi 59 year old late developer!

Took up electric guitar about a 18 months ago after playing acoustic since a kid.

Have just got myself a Pro Jet G 5235 and look forward to chatting to new friends on this forum.

On my other guitar I use Ernie Ball Slinkys which I like what do you guys recommend?

    Paul

Hello and welcome to the forum !!! Almost all of my guitars are equiped with daddario EXL 115 11-49 and I don't changed them! You may also try the elixir nanoweb of the same gauge !!!

    Welcome aboard! :)

    I like the consistency of D'Addario strings. Either EXL110W (10-46) or EXL115W (11-49). The W indicates a wound G string.

    Hello Paul, welcome to G-T

Use D'Addario 10's on my G5435T, they last quite well and those coloured ball ends negate any daft string mixups

Hola! Welcome! Find a seat. Bobkat just went out for more ice. I'm a regular slinky man myself but as you will find on the thread, there are an array of approaches and thinking (pssst! some of it is even credible!)

Have had the guitar now for a week and I am very pleased with it - I have a line 6 Spider VI 15 and the sound with reverb is what I was hoping for - just need to learn some new tunes now!

Glad you found us, Paul. Congrats on your Jet! It will just be the first of many Gretsches, I hope.

As for strings, I've always been a fan of Ernie Ball Slinky 11's and lately I've been really loving the EB Cobalts.

    Hi there Paul.

My story is a lot like yours. I played almost all acoustic for many years. I finally took up the electric - seriously, about ten years ago. That did leave huge holes in important parts of my development, but it doesn't take all that much to catch up. It's all for fun anyway so it isn't a huge deal. Enjoy it.
Gretsch is a great place to start.
