Does anyone know if it’s possible to get sparkle blinding similar to what gretsch uses?
    Ideally in the U.K.

Micke layered the gold sparkle binding on my custom Blå Kaja guitar using the same drum wrap as Gretsch uses for the outer layer.

To get the original look, you also need a relatively thick clear layer over the drum wrap.

Yep, even the Custom Shop doesn't reproduce the vintage style Falcon binding.

If they did, I would have bought one before I retired.

One only has to see what the old Falcons binding looks like. IMO, that was a HUGE part of the Falcon's look.

The modern Falcon binding doesn't come close.

It can be done, though. There's an original '59 on Reverb that has been refinished and rebound. The guy who did the work (Ken McKay) did a fantastic job recreating the original binding.

It's made from sparkle drum wrap. The wrap is manufactured by a company called Delmar, and you can buy it from drum supply companies. Not sure about UK suppliers, but I order mine from the Precision Drum Company or Drum Supply House. They'll cut it to size for you.

What is the difference between the old and new binding?

Flake size and the thick layer of "clear" over the top of the binding.

See a vintage one in person, and the difference really shows.

The vintage binding has a huge wow factor with the clear layer that gives it the depth and optical illusions. It is stunning IMO.
