That one was on eBay awhile at a surprisingly affordable price. Was sorely tempted. Not quite what you're after, but the Gretsch Custom Shop has toyed with the single pickup 17" jazz box idea:

I owned a blue 6120JR. Great little guitar. Don't understand why the new Juniors are center blocks not true hollows.interesting discussion ! However I am still upset over 20 years ago Gretsch discontinued what I thought was the best hollow body they ever made so its now basically extinct,
Some are available for $2500 but they go for as high as $9500. The problem is buying a guitar over the net, and if you don't like it, its nothing but a problem returning it.
I am speaking of the G6120JR2 Nashville Jr.
Maybe it was the name that killed it , People think "JR" as something less or not as good, but it actually played easier than the standard 6120 since the bout was more manageable especially if you are using it standing up with a guitar strap.
The tone was nearly the same, I would love to play one again in a local store before buying it, but that is going to be sheer luck. I had the chance to pick one up off a friend in 2001 for $1300 (what he paid for it) I should have pulled the trigger then.
That‘s a beautiful instrument, but I couldn’t live without a cutaway. That one was on eBay awhile at a surprisingly affordable price. Was sorely tempted.
It's been awhile since I've opined on this, but a jazz box version of the Country Club would be nice. Maybe call it the Jazz Club.
Scale - 25.5"
Body - 17" Wide X 3.5" Thick
Spruce top (Solid Carved or Laminated Pressed)
G-Cutout Tailpiece
Supertron neck pickup
Volume Control (in usual master volume position)
Zero Fret
Ebony compensated floating bridge.
Cherry Red or Burgundy (like a 2000 Tennessee Rose or 1965 Tennessean)
I'm perfectly happy with my G400CV but the thought lingers on......

Psychologically, I can't either. Same with a bridge pickup. This guitar could produce all the bright and twangy tones one's heart could desire with just a neck pickup and anything I play could be played comfortably with no cutaway:That‘s a beautiful instrument, but I couldn’t live without a cutaway.
