Solid spruce top? SQEEEEEEEE!
A TV Filter'Tron Classic at the bridge and a Broad'Tron 65 (like in the G6228) at the neck. That's different.
Beautiful guitar and comes with a case ..... but guess what's missing
Stunningly beautiful guitar. I like the Black/blue-sparkle colour in combination with all the silver hardware and binding. Cool pickup combination, too.
Love the fact that it`s trestle-braced so you can play it with loud crunch-tone without too much squealing.
Quote: "oversized F-holes for explosive sonic projection and maximum feedback control." (I really doubt that oversized f-holes will improve feedback control, though.)
The pups confuse me.
What is a TV Jones Classic Humbucking pup?
What is a Broad’Tron™ BT65 pup.
Are either of these filtertrons?
This is TVJs take on the classic version of a 1959 Gretsch Filtertron.
I read somewhere that tis is Gretsch`s version of the classic PAF.
I’m confused.i thought there already was a Rich Robinson Magpie Gretsch? But it had a magpie instead of a falcon on the scratchplate. Am I remembering that wrong? (Just woke up and I’m a bit fuzzy headed after a ‘big’ night at the studio last night)
The "G" on the knobs
I talked to Cream City today and they said it won’t be available to them until February
There is a master built version of this already available.
Damn purty guitar!
Still no jack plate.
Wrong!! @Dana Rudd got it right .......tell'em gang
Indeed. To my ears and spec-wise, it's (the TV Classic bridge) a hotter (4.8k ohms) with wider pole spacing.
The TV Classic neck sounds and has the same specs as a vintage Filtertron : 4.0k ohms with normal pole spacing.
Doesn't trestle bracing defeat the purpose of a carved top? Thats like getting a solid wood Martin and adding a center block. The whole point of the carved top is the resonance, no? The trestles will kill it. Like running the A/C and the heat at the same time (I knew a woman in college who did this . . . )
Lovely,i'd play that!
So is the "TV Jones Classic Humbucking pup" just a standard TVJ Classic Filtertron?
And the "Broad’Tron™ BT65 pup" is a PAF style humbucker.
If correct, this Magpie mixes a filtertron with a PAF style humbucker - no thanks
For US$3800 I'd also want locking tuners and trestle bracing.
I like the paint job and use of standard tone dials though.
Did Rich Robinson ever play a Gretsch in his Black Crow days, or in his current Magpie Salute band?
