I own these and also have a Harrison Duojet and recently a Tennessean so a Country Gent I suppose.
I'm in the mood for the recently announced G6120TG-DS or for a G6128T-53 VS.
I love the Gold Sparkle Jet...
And the Koa Penguin.
Very difficult choice with so many great models but I think it would be a 6120 DE.
I have the rosewood ltd ed 6119, the goldtop players edition 6118 and the players edition black falcon from the current lineup, I love all 3 almost equally.
I’m set with these two Broadkasters.
the blue one for me
You know, if you handed me a big wad of cash and said "Go get something", I'm pretty sure I could find one I'd like. Either the 135th Anni in Casino Gold, or the Vintage Select Jet in Caddy Green. But to be honest, I don't really need either one. Both would more or less duplicate guitars I already own.
The stuff I really want are some older and hard to find models. Figures, right? It's always the hard to find stuff you crave the most!
On a budget, 5230T Electromatic Jet in Cadillac Green. No budget, Billy Duffy Falcon or Bono U2 Irish Falcon.
6120T-55. Is the T for TV Jones pups? To me the most beautiful electric arch top ever made. But they've always been expensive. In the mid 90's a guy I knew had one for sale, a '56 @ 5K. At that time you could still get a 50's Tele for 3 or less. I went to Alaska for the commercial salmon season swearing if I broke 15k that summer I'd buy it. I ended up with 14 and change. I always kept my promises to myself so I had to pass. The next spring I got a price adjustment check for 1500! So I really did break my mark, but by then the guitar was sold. It's still a bucket list guitar for me. Doesn't have to be vintage, but I'd probably pass on one of the ones with the weird G brand.
"T" = Bigsby
What is that one @ZackyDog ?
The G6118 Anniversary in the two tone Copper/Sahara Mist.
I'd be perfectly happy with one of these..
I recently played a friend's Gibson ES-335 at a jam and have been thinking how I would like one or possibly a good Epiphone version eventually. Then I saw this! I'm fairly certain I would prefer this guitar over an Epiphone ES-335 but who knows? This is my "under $1,000" pick. I would be tempted to change the neck pickup out to a Rose Robusta which is a Jazzmaster type pickup in a humbucker size.
Off subject if you want a 335 type guitar buy a Sheraton Made in Korea swap the pickups out for Gibsons and they’s a really great guitar. You could also look at a Riviera (which I prefer due to the frequencer) and put some Gibson mini hums in there. It’s never gonna be a 335 cos it’s not but it’s a very good and very respectable guitar. If you got lucky they did make a Elitist version which I think is as good as a 335 but they are very rare
I'm blessed to own a number of Gretsch guitars... but THIS is only the second one I've bought brand new, and I have ZERO regrets! What a fantastic guitar. Limited Edition 6120T... Butts Filtertrons, trestle bracing, steers-head headstock motif, and lacquer finish over a dark cherry stain. It's exceptional.
