I'd agree that the 5120 range is great value, and the 512x is even better as the late ones are really well made and have Dearmonds. These are great guitars, and up for a bit of abuse, as well as a bit of modifying, as are the prolines. I've got plans to relic my latest 6120-60, the old fashioned way with a lot of sweat. And a power sander :D

    Hello everybody.

Here's my sparkly 5128 in action early this year.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-nVzjm4PsU

It's already had various tastful upgrades, thanks to a previous owner or two, including:

    - TV Jones Magnatrons
    - TV Jones wiring loom
    - Grover Imperial tuners
    - Chet Atkins pickguard

Next upgrades are one of these:

(should help with the intonation - cf. the video above!!)

    And one of these

    And perhaps one of these:

    What do y'all think?

My "new" 5120, still in the mail as we speak, upgraded by previous owner with Gretsch Filtertron pups, Gretsch by Bigsby vib, Gretsch gold pick up rings and scratchplate, US made knobs, Grover tuning pegs, Graptech nut and a new bridge that I'm not quite sure what is... Anyone?

I don't have the answer to your question but that is one of the finest looking 5120's I've seen.

I just bought a 5126 and it's destroyed ugh seeing the original paint job that gorgeous silver sparkle it makes me sad. The guy I had bought the guitar from spray painted the guitar black and destroyed the guitar but I plan on restoring it to its former glory

I'd like to see a picture of the silver pickguard! I have a 29 with the original blackguard and I hate it, and silver's the only color I can think that I'd like.

Everyone has complimented it when they've seen or heard it, and it's great to play!

It now has a new scarf that matches the colour more lol.
Looking at sticking a t-armond in the bridge and TV Classic in the bridge when the money reaches me hah hah

    [ignorance]
Everyone raves about the compton bridges - what's the deal with them? Why are they so coveted and what difference do they make?
    [/ignorance]

Some lovely examples in the thread btw!

It's a Dual Terror with a 2x12 open back cab.

Tis very noice! Would recommend it to anyone looking to get into Orange!

    *edit*

I found the clean really nice. Smooth for finger picking and switching to plectrum can get some really nice jangle.

    *second edit*

I do have a (not great quality) video of me playing the 26 through it on clean and a delay pedal, using fingers and plectrum which I could link you to if you're interested?
Tho it's got my singing on it as well so no comments! ^.^
