I've got a lp custom fake. My father is in china for work from time to time. It's most likely made by Gibson's factory which churns out epiphone et. al.

It had a **** nut and a junky bridge, but the guitar itself was extremely nice. After a few part replacements it's a great playing and sounding guitar. Quality solid woods, tight fit/finish.

Who makes the entire electromatic line? Probably these same folks.

I have seen about a dozen Chineese fake Les Pauls. Out of them, I'd say that maybe 2 of them were half decent, in the sence that they were not complete junk and had a little potential to measure up to a cheap eppiphone - after some work...
That's some pretty long odds, to think that you might get a good one. And by the time you finish all of the repairs required to make it a decent guitar, You have a $900 fake that you can sell for $250 if you're lucky.

And that's with a solid body guitar...
I'd imagine you'd get much worse odds with a hollow body guitar!

I never thought I would be able to afford a Gretsch. I decided to save, for months, and buy one used. - Turned out being the best decision ever. -Gretsch's are usually in great condition used, and my Gretsch Power Jet was in almost brand new condition. Its still a chunk of change, and I had to employ patience, but it was worth the wait. :)

On the other hand if you must buy a cheaper guitar. Take into account to install new pups on a hollow-body with no back panels will cost a TON.

I have no complaints about the Sparrow i bought. It's a well built guitar with great sounding pickups. It's a WF copy but a pretty darn good copy for the price i'd say!

P.S. I like the way you blend right in to the music with that one;)

Reminds me very much of my Peavey Rockingham. Mine was an early one and build in Korea, but they have been manufactured in China as well. Note the 17" bout and the triangular inlay design.

My guitar made in mid 1990's (the former owner said ). So I think it's not China, probably Korea. Surely these guitars were made at the same factory. Shape the headstock exactly Sparrow. 1222.jpg

I guess I just don’t understand how a Gretsch clone, imitation, knock-off, facsimile, forgery of a masterpiece, counterfeit, could be considered to fall under this forum category of “Other Cool Guitars” I mean if it’s a Gretsch, kind of like a Porsche, “there is no substitute.”
