This Amazon documentary has been mentioned here before. Radwife and I just watched it, great show. We saw him in the late 60’s or very early 70’s, he was wonderful

It is interesting how all the performers intersected back then. The documentary about the Laurel Canyon music scene back then and the book about Joni Mitchell and this documentary all make reference to the same people, same houses, parties etc, it is like
    you have been there before.

Crazy fact....The Edmond Fitzgerald song was done not just in one take, but Lightfoot brought it into the studio when they were making an album and the recording is actually the very first time they ever played the song!

Canada deserves to be very proud of Lightfoot

"The Canadian Railroad Trilogy" is a favorite with me. Gordon Lightfoot is a true Canadian treasure. Hadn't heard that about the "Fitz" tune before.

Didn't know that about the Wreck of Edumnd...that's really cool. Always loved his music.

My very first song book in the late 60’s. The very first song I ever learned, ***** Willows. Cat-tails. Apparently the forum software does not like the song title..:D

When we were children, Gordon Lightfoot performed at my sister's (5 pin) bowling banquet (an early gig, I believe). She got his autograph and said he was 'pretty good'.

His songs are some of the earliest I can remember hearing on the radio when I was little....

Nice, I'll have to add that to the list of docos to check out when I have more time. I'm buried in projects right now.
