Recent purchase is a 2018 G6228 that I got for a decent price.

I am surprised at how generic my own thoughts in regards to comparing it to my G5230t are: The electromatic is fantastic BUT you can tell there’s that higher level of craftsmanship/quality at the proline.

Anyways I am impressed by the Tim Shaw pickups here and now I’m gonna have to offload the 5230t.

    Any other 6228 enthusiasts?!

My G6228FM is a great guitar. Very bright and light as a feather. Tremendous workmanship. It's what a Les Paul should be (I'm ducking now).

Congrats on your recent Gretsch. The G6228 is stellar and the pickups sound superb IMO.

Yep got a lefty in Cadillac Green and put a B3 Bigsby on it with a Towner bar. Magnificent instrument and the Tim Shaw pickups sound like no other guitar. My only wish is in retrospect I wish it had the modern Gretsch logo inlay on the headstock but there you go. I guess with the retro logo no one will mistake it for a 6128

Yep, love my G6228 for all the reasons stated above. It takes me a few minutes to adjust when I pick it up due to the tiny frets, but I love it just the same.

I think the 6228 is a wonderful Gretsch creation. Beautiful and just the right upgrades. It really is under appreciated.

Well an update that no one asked for: the 6228 has officially supplanted my SG standard as my #1 and I honestly didn’t think that was possible.

I picked it up used off reverb for an ok deal on a whim and I really lucked out. This thing is very underrated.

Hello, how the B3 compares to the B6 with vibramate ? I also have a lefty 6228 and I plan to put a B6 on it….

    Youll want a B3 on a jet.
