Not even a question, Cadillac green.
In my humble opinion, Cadillac Green is better with gold hardware.
Yep, the Green. Obviously.
The problem is that gold pickguard. It works much better on the Cadillac green, but it’s killing the Dark Cherry. The DC needs a black guard with chrome trim and black pickup rings to match.
Here’s a half-assed mockup compliments of the Wild West Guitars website pic and the Gretsch simulator.
Something got lost in the translation up there. I think I re-sampled the photo at too high of a resolution.
Working on an iPhone during a power outage here, so struggling with the simulation.
Here’s some previous work on a Dark Cherry G5220. This one is on my get list:
Those are both two of my favourite colours among the last few years' Gretsches ...
... flip a coin - I'd take the green, because green was my favourite colour when I was younger (I even painted a figurine, an angel we got to paint in Kindergarten, entirely green, twotone, including face, hands, hair, and was really upset when they made a drag-queenish redhead from it - I know faces are not green, and knew then, I simply didn't want it to be ungreen, damned ... still have that little pervert somewhere I think...).
Cadillac green! Had I not fallen in love with CAR/Gold, I'd have chosen CG/Gold for sure!
... because I didn't like the golden back side of the dark cherry 5420.
I love both colors but I’d have to go green
This looks pretty good to me!
Of course I'm partial to that color since I have the poor man's version, ha!
Oooooh, decisions! You know that, either way, you’re gonna love it. For me, I would probably come down in favour of the green 6228. Maybe.
Keen to hear which way you go!
I guess it's what ever color you like. I prefer the dark cherry with the silver because I'm not a fan of green guitars that much. An idea buy both and give me whichever one you don't want. Win Win. LOL
I totally get why you asked this haha.
I looked and was like, red for sure.
Then saw the green and was, green for sure.
That said I think green is the choice. Many guitar companies make good reds, including that one. But not many pull off green as well as Gretsch does. I'd go green and still admire the beauty of the red one.
No one does Green like Gretsch. I have 4 green Gretsches, none the same color, and none Cadillac Green, so between the two, that would be my choice.
I love them both. Caddy green is classic Gretsch. The dark Cherry also compliments the wood on the sides and back very well IMO.
