OK, vben silly perhaps but do you have a favorite light or knick knack in your music room that just makes you feel good when you see it? A skull ashtray? A miniature guitar? A wall hanging?

I'll start with one - a tube night light.

Got a picture of that in action?
I have a glowing green Led 24 hour clock. My room's décor is mid century clutter.

So, LED in a miniature tube? I'd expect LED due to the size, brightness, and the fact that you can get it in colors. I like it! Where would one find such a thing?

I have these cool little LED lanterns that sit on top of my amps.. they kind of simulate old oil lamps. These are the full-size ones, I have mini ones:

I also keep a string of xmas lights up year-round.

Sorry no pics- it's daytime, would have to wait for evening

If I remember correctly it was Tubedepot.com. You could select the type of tube and choice of colors. This on his amber but it looks white. Reverb has them as well. A search for vacuum tube night light will kick up some results. I've seen a site (which of course I can't remember) that had ones that with Gretsch, Fender, and Gibson Logos too but the wanted $10.00 more for that feature.

I don't have anything interesting like that, but one day I'd love to have one of these tube clocks...

Nixie tubes! Too cool! Genuine 1950s technology. They're from the same era as the green electric eye tubes you'd tune an expensive radio in with. Nixie tubes came about for early computer use once 11 pin miniature tubes came about. Basically neon lights with multiple segments. There were all sorts of neon lights made with different inner pieces like flames and such. They were the original flickering lights. Neon was just one version of gas discharge lamps you could get.

As to "Edison" lamps----TE never designed a lamp that looked like most of these. Considering that there's a band on incandescent lighting, I wonder how they get around that with these. LEDs have even replaced the fluorescent as they have no mercury inside and are far more efficient and produce no heat in comparison to fluorescent and incandescent. "Edison" lamps have no frost coating on them and are harsh to the eye. It's a trick some restaurants use to make customers leave quickly ensuring a faster turnover. Glare is to light as noise is to sound. They also produce more heat than light. I've spent 40 years working with theatrical and architectural lighting with everything from LEDs to arc lamps. LEDs are the best thing to happen in lighting in decades.
