Dang me! Dang me! They oughta take a rope and hang me!
I know that I’m a reverbaholic, and I don’t seek to conceal the fact. Somehow, I manage to lead an otherwise normal existence, in spite of have over 10 reverb pedals, a Fender Tank and at least three amps with great built in reverb. If I had a basement, there would be a plate reverb in that basement, but I manage to get through life somehow, although in weak moments, I may have to listen to some Surf Music recordings to get me past the shakes.
But now … now … I’ve managed to get myself hooked on Tremolo, too. This is bad, folks. I have a Winfield Tremor, which has awesome bias-varying tremolo, and I love it. Later, coincidentally during a visit to Winfield Thomas’ shop, I got to play an early sixties Fender amp with harmonic tremolo. OMG, that is an amazing sound. I became a tremolo aficionado, learning the fin points of tremolo, the smoothly rolling waves of bias varying, the throb of harmonic and the staccato of optical tremolo.
I recently bought the Source Audio True Spring and it has those three types of tremolo, plus tap tremolo. I am adding the Vertigo to replace two other pedal, my CE-2W chorus and my MXR Phase 95. The Vertigo adds Flanging, Chorus, and Phase Shifting. There’s a chorus, combined with tremolo, that I find quite intriguing. So, I went for it, and I look forward to experimenting with some new forms of tremolo.
