Not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but I've been meaning to ask the two of you about your opinions of this amp. Thinking about getting one when my tax return gets here. Ever try the head with a solid pine cab?

I've played the TA-15 thru my 2x12 pine cab with V30s and a friends cab with Alnico Cream.
    Fantastic versatile amp imo.
Does Vox AC, Marshall and Mesa tones in small lightweight package.

Does Vox AC30 tones as great as a real AC30 (and better than either AC10 or AC15 imo).
Does fantastic Marshall clean/overdrive then adds Mesa gain tones on top.

Out of production now and a fantastic and cheap buy on the used market :D

I've only played one once, but I was impressed. I like the original non-cab industrial look actually. It was just outside of my price range at the time. I found it to be a cross between a Deluxe Reverb and a Vox AC15---best of both worlds, and then, it added more.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear! I'm sold on this amp now. Thanks, guys! Now just need to wait 21 days for the IRS to buy me one...;)

Yeah, those were good descriptions. Don't think it has reverb or an FX loop though, if those things matter to you.

A Fender Bassman '59 is 4 X 10. The reissues are about 55 lbs. I am guessing that The Blue Angel has a comparable weight.

No Lone Stars in my price range. Some TransAtlantics, Mini Rectifiers, F30s, F50s, DC-2s, DC-3s, 525s, a Studio 22 Caliber. Enough to make the selection interesting anyway.

    Yes I love Lonestars too.

That was the 1st of the Boogies 20 yrs ago that beat Fender on cleans and reverb.
After its success Lonestar cleans were reproduced into following Boogie amps like the Roadster, Rectoverb, Mini Rectifier, Express and Mark V amps.
Mark V has the fat clean channel which is straight out of the Lonestar.

Here's a good video on the Lonestar Special.
This guy has the bass up too high most of the time but the vid still has good info imo

I'm not sure if you're working on a commission basis, or just one of the world's greatest Mesa fans... :) I'm liking sounds of the Mark V 25... maybe I'll save up a bit longer, and/or unload my DSL15H

Wish I was on commission :p
And there's 1000s more fans like me - take a look at all the Mesa threads on TPG.

Yes while I'm a Mesa fanboy for sure I'm nothin compared to the many Vox and Fender obsessed on Gretsch Talk :D At least I test out (and like) other amp brands too.

I see a lot of Caliber .50+ around here. The ones with the 5 band EQ. Pretty much the last Boogie with that vintage Mark tonality. Anything newer(D, F) and they start quoting from the Rectumfrier pages too much. That might be a good thing for some.

I'm not a big Rectifer fan actually.
One of the best things about most of the other amps mentioned in this thread is that they don't sound like Rectifiers. Only the Rectoverb and Mini Rectifier have Rectifer tones.

Vintage Mark tonality goes right thru all the Mark series amps from 1 to 5.
The whole design objective of Mark V is to include all the tones from Marks 1 to 4 in one amp plus add in Lonestar cleans and reverb :D

Yeah, I read the promo speak. Not sure I’m buying it, but I fully admit it is strictly based on watching Youtube and reading the reviews. :D
It’s like Marshall claiming every new Marshall does vintage Plexi as well, when we all know it doesn’t. Close enough for some people maybe, not nearly close enough for others.
