Frankly I don’t pay much attention to singers. My standard answer has been Otis Redding or Marvin Gaye for decades. Today my pick is Curtis Mayfield or Donny Hathaway. Female probably Etta or Ella.

Richard Thompson and Nick Hatper, they tell a story and sound so unique.

Rhiannon Giddens, OMG what a voice, what a musician.

Not sure if they are my absolute favorites but these 2 come to mind: Lucinda Williams and Bill Withers.

10 Grammys, 3 AMAs, 2 ACMAs, a Tony and a Golden Globe nominee. Linda was the greatest female voice of my generation. A close second is Aretha. But the question is my favorite. Kim Shattuck of the Muffs.

Chris Cornell or Robert Plant maybe the most talented, but again not the favorite. Eddie Vedder, Mike Ness and Burton Cummings in a tie.

First 5 to come to mind for female/male voices I really enjoy:

Female: Kate Rusby, Allison Krauss, Eva Cassidy, Patsy Cline, Diana Krall
Male: Peter Gabriel, Nat King Cole, Michael McDonald, Don Henley, Gary Allan

I don't think any of these have been mentioned yet. Two more honorable mentions that haven't been mentioned: Raul Malo and Chris Isaak.

No singer has ever moved me as much as Linda Ronstadt.
I almost hate to admit it but Michael Bolton has gotten to me also.

John Prine had a terrible voice but what he said with it was deeper than anyone else.

Although she's a bit older than me, let's make it a double date with me and Nancy!

My wife and I saw them in Toronto in 2019. Ann's voice can't hit the highest notes any more but she can still bring it. Nancy too.

Saw her at the Troubadour around 68’, not long after she left the Stone Ponys.

My girlfriend and I were a couple tables back from center stage. Linda stood just above us wearing a loose top cut down almost to her navel and she played the tambourine...arms going apart and back.... My eyes never left her. :) That girlfriend never let me forget that, I married her...The girlfriend, not Linda.:D

oh ya, Linda’s voice was simply stunning in that amazing venue.
