This Blue Moon album is just superb. I mean damn near every song has tone to die for and great fills and solos. He just makes that Tele growl. I love the solo in this one: 3:10

Elliott Randall delivered two of the all time best Steely Dan solos (of which there are more than most groups)

Reelin’ in the Years (on the list in Guitar Player) and one of my favorites:

My all-time favorites are the solos Zappa took playing Inca Roads.

This is Bill Frisell’s trio playing ‘Egg Radio’. Live rendition from ‘Further East, Further West’. I appreciate Frisell’s guitar work very much. The song builds and the ending is something’ else.

    Bill Frisell – guitar, loops
    Viktor Krauss - bass
    Kenny Wollesen - drums

This, until he overcomplicates it at the end (go to 1:25 for solo) ....

There are too many great solos to pick one or two.
I've always liked Joe Walsh, and Mark Knopfler can do do wrong.
I'd rather hear three notes from B.B. King than 1,000 from any shredder.
    Simplicity works.
Didn't Chet say, "Play the melody."?

Craig Chaquico’s solo in Jefferson Starships “Run Away” is as good as it gets.

Randy Bachman, "Looking Out for Number 1," (both), Pete Anderson, "Guitars and Cadillacs," and Slash, "Paradise City". Through the years I've realized how great Slash is, even though it's not really my thing to play.

The Rev's solo evokes being slightly tipsy along with a descending run that evokes smoke rising and falling.
