There was a message in that song? I was listening to the guitar playing and totally missed it...was it politically correct? If so maybe I should hate it too...:D

I believe it was Voltaire who said “I don’t agree with what you say, but I’ll fight to the death for your right to say it”.

    No very innocuous lyrics imo.
I listenned to them closely after that comment and heard nothing even remotely contraversial

Personally I Did'nt hear anything in that song about about that.
Just a song about being bored with all the political garbage we're being fed.

I'm not a Clapton fan but fair play to him!

Yeah, I'd ban you for that, we don't need those kind of sentiments around here.

[were I a mod, I would at least remove your hateful post and reprimand you with a warning]

  7. The licks are OK.

Trying to figure out what he’s talking about & what position is being espoused. He’s exasperated. A little bit slick & good for airplay, as a marketing strategy. We have had other vague message songs over the years.

    I am the Walrus.

Vagueness could make it apply to any position & up for discussion.
The song has no freshness date, no shelf life.

Maybe its about Larry the Cable Guy Syndrome.

If we invoke the Looking Glass:
Shoes and ships - and sealing wax; Of cabbages - and kings.
And why the sea is boiling hot; And whether pigs have wings.

Great that he’s still at it.

  10. I am told what to think about it, in advance.
Thus whatever notion I have, colors what I hear in the song.

Using “B.S.” will allow it broad airplay.
Social media does not feature favorably in the video.

Yet, I need social media to learn he has been vaccine-critical.
    Ironic, indeed.

I hesitated sharing this song because I realize it could be interpreted in many ways. I think it’s a testament to the people here and the moderators that is even still up. I’m glad to know that we can have differences of interpretation and still stay and discuss guitars which is what we’re here for.
I know there are some people that are scared of what’s happening and afraid what’s about to happen to them and their families. All over the world and right here on Gretsh~talk some folks really needed to hear this song and that’s why I shared it.

Not a big fan of obvious social commentry in the music I listen to. Full cudos for staying at it(I understand he has health issues) and remaining erm vigilant.

"appears to" says RS haha - I don't agree.
There's a good reason why people don't buy RS mag anymore - far too much BS.
Their reviews of anything have been rubbish for decades now.

Clapton's song could equally apply to RS mag as anything else :D

The RS commentary is spot on. EC is not playing venues that require vaccinations, masks, etc ... He contributed to the Van Morrison screed awhile ago. Pretty sad political/social commentary underlying the song. EC needs to go away. No further comment.

I liked the music, the rhythm and his lead breaks. The lyrics did nothing for me, I thought the lyrics were child like and weak.

I do miss his voice of years ago.

I’m surprised he can even make music considering what he looked like a year or two ago.

I think I wore out this album and I loved his Crossroads series
