Because I grew up in the fifties I flatter myself that I know a lot -if not most- of the best early rock’n’roll greats. But I just found this Eddie Cochran wonder. We lost so much when we lost him. :(

Weirdly enough, Eddie Cochran was one of the earliest real 50s Gretschy-rock and roll dudes I listened to. Truly excellent. I just heard his name being mentioned by either the Rev or Nick13 in some inspiration thing, and I saw the big orange 6120 so I gave it a listen. Since then I've been hooked. Simple stuff, but it slaps.

It's got me curious if Eddie recorded this in Dropped D.
I play it dropped D and it's a lot more fluid.

Ain't that the truth. One of my all time favorite songs is "Guybo" instrumental or not.

One day I'll sit down and learn it properly, but for now I have a ham-fisted garbage version I can play. (I just hope Eddie doesn't tune in to me butchering this one)

I've already said if I go solo, my stage name will be Eddie Cockring. (Or Derek Clacton)

Long live Eddie! I always come back to this concert. Great piece of history. I always get a kick out of 17:41

I can't seem to get Guybo either, can't find any tabs or covers on youtube to steal from.

I don’t know anything about dropped tunings, but I copied this version of Jeanie in F#.

Same here. Eddie was taken far too soon(like a lot of our "heros" it seems). Love his Bigsby use in the intro to Summertime Blues.

When I first started playing guitar in the late 80s I mostly listened to Telstar and a record called Portrait of a Legend, which I think was an import, from EC.

    yes, I have a 50s 6120 and a Mosrite.

Sometimes memory recall brings up the ping when Eddie's mom presses the Bigsby...
Ooof the shot heard around the world.
