Posted and ad on Craig’s list today for a blues singer. I got the most ridiculous response I’ve ever got and I’ve got some real dumb responses.
    Here is my ad

He’s responding from California to an ad in Louisiana, then he wants to play accordion and sing in French???

First of all like he says the commute is a little far and second we are not a Cajun band we are a blues band. I can’t tell you how many times people want to play trumpet or something instead of harmonica and tell me it’s the same thing. It’s not even close

Lol. Have to say in my time in NOLA, I found pretty much no Blues scene at all. Horns are EVERYWHERE, and they are playing more what I would call Jazz, or perhaps "New Orleans Jazz/Blues"? Was excited when a Detroit friend/Blues Musician contacted me and said he was going to see another transplanted Detroit Blues guitarist at a downtown hotel. Got there to find more of the same, that NOLA sound.

I did meet up with him another night at BB King's. Blues band there? Closed their show with a Disco number. At least he went up and sat in for a song or two, sang and played harp... was the only real Blues I saw while I was there. BTW, he's moving to NOLA later this year I think. Probably on the road too much to be helpful to your band, but who knows?

Yep that’s why I stay true to the Chicago blues sound because we are the only band really playing that style

Nick, tell him the salary is $2300 a week and have him fly in and report to 800 Decatur Street with gear and in stage clothes at 7PM Thursday.

Lol. Not surprised.. we had placed an ad for an experienced drummer who has experience doing live shows with a band lineup of two guitars and bass and we got two replies that were kind of off base -one stated he plays keys but could try to learn the drums ??the second stated he played drums in school band when he was 12 and wanted to know if we had a spare set for him play..
