I took this in on trade,

Dr Z Carman Ghia head in red tolex. The amp is in excellent condition, sounds great and is ready to go.

The pictures tell the story, one volume, one tone, 4 and 8 ohm outputs.

    $775 plus shipping

Wish I still had my Ghia. Nice amp.
I have too many small amps right now or I'd buy it!

    Winnie,

Am I right in thinking that this amp is somewhat similar to an 18 watt Marshall?

Folks will say it is it's own thing, and they're right on track. Based off an old Hammond organ pull, the amp is a great example of less is more. Simple circuit and simple layout. It is greatly influenced by tube swaps, speaker choices, and your right hand touch.

The tone control is like a mids eq shift as opposed to a left is dark and right is bright. You could say that the more you turn the tone to the right the more the mids bring it into a Voxy Marshally thing. My favorite tone is 11 on the volume and 2pm on the tone. Dr. Z folks say that the both at 3 o'clock on the dial is the money shot.

I have owned two and am always drawn back to them. (Can't snag this one as I am still in the honeymoon phase with my Windfield Cyclone! Figures huh?)

Fun Edit: The second CG I bought used showed up to me damaged in shipment. It had obviously been dropped and the box looked like a dented up trash can. When I opened the box I could see the force of the drop had caused the transformer to pull away from the chassis. (2 of the 4 tabs were bent etc.) Dr. Z uses massive transformers so it makes sense. I fired it up and it worked like a champ. Never a hiccup.

There’s nothing wrong with that. The Cyclone honeymoon will last a while.

The amp is based on a Hammond AO35 Reverb driver with a 12AX7 preamp and a .68uf cap on the cathode of the first triode/

    He talks about it here:

I really like the concept of working with only 2 controls. Makes everything easier.
