Dodged another huge health bullet! A few weeks ago I noticed a small lump in my cheek had started to increase in size. I went to my GP and was sent for ultrasound and CAT-scans. The CAT-scan showed the lump, but unexpectedly also showed lesions on my Thyroid gland. I was referred to a specialist in a major hospital and underwent blood tests and a needle biopsy of the lump and my thyroid, an uncomfortable procedure which left me with much sympathy for voodoo dolls. Now I know how it feels to have hat-pins stuck into you. Yesterday all the pathology results came back: my thyroid is OK and the lump is currently benign but is pre-cancerous and still needs excision. Huge relief! Next Wednesday I am scheduled for 2 hours of surgery and 3 days in hospital. Even after health insurance rebates it’s still going to cost more than a Custom Shop White Falcon! I chose the acknowledged best specialist surgeon in the field and the costs reflect that. I’m always prepared to spend top dollars on the best, whether it’s working on my guitars or working on me! So, under the knife again next Wednesday. Hope I don’t have to change my name to “Scarface” afterwards.
