Local guitar player Colin James talks about his GreTsch. If you aren't familiar with his music I recommend you check him out.

Perhaps I should dust off his Big Band 2 CD I have... great stuff.

Those late 90’s red G6129’s don’t come up often. I dig the big head stock and horse shoe. Reminds me of 1999 Duo Jet and first Gretsch that I actually wish I still had. They had ceramic magnets at the time. A little less chime then a TV Jones FT but they still have great tones on tap.

I was fortunate to meet Colin and the band back in the 90's when he toured with The Little Big Band.

Colin James is fantastic. He was originally packaged as a Bryan Adams-style arena rocker in the 80s, but he really hit his stride when he formed the Little Big Band in the 90s. The first version of that band featured Stevie Ray Vaughan's keyboardist Reese Wynans. They were a super-hot group. Well worth checking out for those who don't know his music.

It's almost time to start playing Colin James' Christmas album in our house (no kidding). I love it.

So Colin says the Duo-Jet is a great blues guitar. Case closed;)

That video now has me looking at the new Magnatone amps... the tone of that Jet (and those Filtertrons) through that modern Supro is stellar!

I always thought a Brian Setzer and Colin James collaboration show both using a big band would be great.
