We just finished Christmas Lunch for close family. Here's some pics of the table set before everyone arrived. The meal was Turkey, Roast Pork shoulder, various salads and 2 fabulous desserts. I meant to take pics of the main meal, but eating got in the way. I did find time to take pics of the desserts before we devoured them. A gratuitous pic of me and Mrs A after the meal, and a pic of Sheba as well. From our family to yours, a very Happy Christmas!

We've already picked up all of the shredded wrapping paper, and are busy playing with the toys. I'm happily sipping on some Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee, Mom's getting brunch ready, and all's right with the world.

Later, tho, the grandsons are going to have to climb up on the roof and shovel the reindeer poop off.

Looks that you had a good time, Audept.

I have to confess that I am happy that Christmas is over now.
When I was a kid my family used to have a humble and harmonic celebration.
Kids, parents, grandparents, godfathers, and often a lonely other person that my mother invited.
Some selfmade cookies, saucages and potato salad.
The gifts were useful like a new wintercoat or a warm hat. And there was always something for us kids like a new puzzle or an inexpensive but cool toy.
Over the years many of the participants died and the circle became smaller and smaller.
When my dad passed my (then healthy) wife took over and invited her and my family to our house for big fat Christmas . That was the style in which her familiy used to celebrate.
She insists that everything has to be posh and bright. Lots of decoration inside and outside of the house. Lots of food, lots of parcels for everybody. A lot of work before and after. A crazy lot of money to spend on gifts, food, drinks and deco. Many big expectations towards the other people involved. And that kitschy Christmas-music 24 hours. Oh, my.
Some years ago my wife became seriously ill and preparing all that things for Christmas-day became more and more un-manageable for her (and more and more unbearable for us).
Last year we decided to break the tradition in 2019 and have a short trip over the Christmas-holidays. Sadly she changed her mind and the ordeal begun. Same procedure as last year.
Glad that it is over now.
