Im lucky enough to travel a lot for a career. Last I ended up in Chicago. Well there's a little place I've always wanted to check out.

The store is Guitar heaven. Just pick up anything, grab a couch, and play. If you want to plug in, grab any amp, enter a little room, and crank the hell out of it.

The staff was Amazing, super chill, and really knowledgable. Zero attitude, just awesome.

    Here's some pics.

It is a "must visit" anytime I am in Chicago....my salesman is David A. :D

The last time my family was there in person, we brought home a new Collings I-35LC. I "almost" (came "this close") bought my Taylor K22ce from them, and recently got my Dano' '59DC from David.

I agree that they are cool guys who work there and can't wait to return!

BTW---Did you play that SuperLarry amp? Those have a cool vibe and I've not seen them before!

Super Larry amps? never heard of them. They look gorgeous though. Kind of like the original Tone King Falcon.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I got on their email list somehow and just love their big variety of vintage instruments and amps. I've never been to the shop but you've got me thinking - my wife works for a research center affiliated with the Univ of Chicago. The next time I tag along when she goes to a conference or training I'm heading for CME.

Subway? We aint got no steeenking subways in Chicago, unless your talking about the crappy sangwich joint. Its called the El, even when its underground. Id also highly discourage an EL ride from U of C to Lakeview. CME is a must see though, but get an Uber.

One of the better guitar shops in the country. expensive, but they've got a great selection and are very cool about letting you try anything. Also, nice "trial" rooms in the center of the store with great selection of amps, too.

It's a much better store than its used to be years ago. The fool who owned it previously cheated a lot of people on guitar deals, myself included.
