I hear you, my Falcon was quite a stretch to afford, but was literally a once in a lifetime opportunity to own. I would be very sad if anything happened to it. It has the trestle bracing as well. I looked long and hard at the case and how much compression was happening.... I usually store the case flat, so nothing will push further than the case itself, seems to be alright....

    Thanks for your replies, folks.
I'm mainly interested in how the arm combines with Atkins style playing.
That being the case, do I need the long or short arm?
I think my Bigsby is a B7, can anyone confirm that from my photos? Does that mean the Atkins assembly will fit easily?

You’ll probably need the longer arm for the B7.

I think it depends in your particular playing style. The arm is supposed to bend around the bridge area, but a longer handle will sometimes interfere with the player’s technique. When in doubt opt for the best looking one.

I like the Chet arm, especially for finger-style. It does take a bit of adaptation, but the results are worth it to me. I have nothing against the Butter Knife or the Duane Eddy arm, either. My Guild has the OEM Butter Knife, which is ironic, in view of the fact that my Guild is essentially a reissue of the old DE-400 model.
