Drum Bob and I just got off the phone after a long conversation and buried the hatchet. We had a pleasant conversation.

I misunderstood Winnie's comment and I believe he may have misunderstood mine. Now, everything is good. We have NJ in common, and it looks like he makes some very cool amps. Check them out at www.winfieldamps.com.

This all could have been avoided if we could have heard each others tone of voice.

It is difficult to portray tone or meaning in type sometimes. That's why we have these.;):D:mad:

Very mature and responsible posts from you both. That's one of the reasons this forum is so special, people behaving (mostly) like grownups. The kind of people you would be happy to invite home for dinner and a few beverages.

Glad to hear it, it was clearly a misunderstanding from the getgo.

I'm glad to hear it. I was surprised at the way it all happened, but misunderstandings arise especially on line.

Thanks to both of you for working this out.

One of the biggest problems with posts on the Internet or emails is that we don't have the advantage of non-verbal cues. I've seen plenty of online disputes in my day and the overwhelming majority stem back to misunderstanding one another's intentions. I'm not immune, I've gotten angry at something I've read more than once, only to later realize that I had misapprehended the intentions of the person making the post.

If I might, I'd like to offer some advice. Most of the people on this forum are good people. All of the people on this forum are human; which is to say that they have good days and bad days. I'll use myself as an example. A few months ago I got pretty steamed about some replies to a thread I had started. It was out of character for me, but I was going through a rough time in my life and it bled over into my posts. When we see someone's post we have no idea of their state of mind. They could be digesting some bad news, could be facing serious medical problems or just consumed with the everyday anxieties of life.

Let me suggest that we all pause and take the time to give out forum friends the benefit of the doubt before we respond. Most of the people here are well intended. Time after time I have seen that born out as I've gotten to know people on the forum.

This forum is a valuable place for me to come and relax at the end of the day. It's cheaper than Scotch and easier on the liver. I suspect that it's relaxing to others too. Let's keep it a friendly place.
