As much as I love Les Paul guitars there's something to be said about the right SG.

I pulled this one out a couple weeks ago and am just blown away by what an amazing sounding and playing guitar it is.

    Any other SG lovers here?

Met a young kid (sales clerk) at Guitar Center and he was saving to get one.
I've always kinda liked em too.

I have several. Love them. Got them in P90s and Classic 57s, a couple with custom pickups too. They're all good. Toured for a while with a 1972 SG Custom and I wish I still had it - I bought a SG3 to make myself feel better. It has three gold buckers (57s) and a Varitone switch.

    A couple of Epis too.

Yours is a pretty colour! What year is she?

I love that finish checking and color. It’s got some real mojo in the looks department.

No current SG. But my first guitar was a used 77 Standard in Walnut that I picked up in 89. I want to say my folks paid $350.

I like em, a few players I've gotten into lately play em to great effect too (Derek Trucks, Britney Howard, etc.). it pisses off some people but I call them the original pointy guitar.:D

It would be better if you used a right angle plug at the guitar end. Too easy to damage the guitar with that candlestick poking out.

    Congratulations on your new SG.

And count me in the SG Appreciation Club:

    Gibson SG Firebrand800.jpg

(That's a SG Firebrand from 1979. I had it 3rd hand in the early 90s, previous owner was my younger brother. I know nothing about that missing knob and related mod but I like it like that...)

My 1974 is possible the best playing and sounding guitar I've ever owned.

Always liked them but never had a big yearning for one, until a few years ago,it was that Kirk Douglas model Gibson did a few years ago that pipped my interest again.

I've owned a few Les Pauls but never an SG,i kinda fancy one of those new 61's,can't decide if i want trem or a stop tail.

I love the look of the Vibrola, even if I’d never use it. Mine is a stop tail though.

I've played numerous SG's over the years. Various models, including a co-workers old LP Custom model.

Just never bonded with the overall "feel" of the SG shape/balance.

That said, they all were great playing, and what a tone.

They may not be for me, but oh yes, nice gits that I really like.

This one looks exceptionally great. Congrats.
I never had a sweet tooth with SGs because they usually have that neck-dive issue but I would love to own a sixties Junior for sure.
